Withdrawal Policy

Frontiers in Interdisciplinary Applied Science

1. Introduction

Frontiers in Interdisciplinary Applied Science (FIAS) values the integrity of the scholarly record and aims to ensure that all published research is accurate and trustworthy. This policy outlines the procedures and conditions under which an author can request the withdrawal of a manuscript, both before and after publication.

2. Pre-Publication Withdrawal

2.1. Requesting Withdrawal

Authors may request to withdraw their manuscript at any time before it is published. Requests for withdrawal must be submitted in writing to the editorial office and should include the manuscript ID, title, and the reasons for the withdrawal request.

2.2. Conditions for Withdrawal

The editorial team will review the withdrawal request. Valid reasons for withdrawal may include:

  • Discovery of significant errors in the data or methodology
  • Ethical concerns regarding the research
  • The manuscript being submitted to another journal

2.3. Approval Process

Upon receiving a withdrawal request, the editorial team will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of the request within five business days
  • Review the reasons for withdrawal
  • Communicate the decision to the authors within two weeks

If the withdrawal request is approved, the manuscript will be removed from the review process, and no further action will be taken. If the request is denied, the manuscript will continue through the review and publication process.

3. Post-Publication Withdrawal

3.1. Requesting Withdrawal

In rare cases, authors may request the withdrawal of a published article. Such requests must be submitted in writing to the editorial office and should include the article's DOI, title, and the reasons for the withdrawal request.

3.2. Conditions for Withdrawal

Valid reasons for post-publication withdrawal may include:

  • Significant errors or inaccuracies discovered post-publication
  • Ethical breaches or research misconduct
  • Legal issues or disputes over authorship

3.3. Approval Process

The editorial team will:

  • Acknowledge receipt of the request within five business days
  • Conduct a thorough investigation into the reasons for the withdrawal request
  • Consult with the editorial board and, if necessary, external experts

3.4. Outcome

If the withdrawal request is approved, the article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be published in its place. The original article will be retained in the journal’s online archive with a watermark indicating it has been withdrawn and a retraction notice explaining the reasons for withdrawal.

4. Author Responsibilities

Authors should ensure the accuracy and integrity of their work before submission. Withdrawal should be considered a last resort, and authors are encouraged to address any issues through corrections or retractions where appropriate.

5. Editorial Responsibilities

The editorial team is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record. All withdrawal requests will be handled promptly, transparently, and in accordance with the highest ethical standards.
